Hosting and VPS clients pay in crypto more often than most online customers, and many of them hold USDT. Adding a crypto gateway to your billing is quick; living with the wrong one is not. Here are the questions worth asking before you choose, and how SnapEX Pay answers each of them.
1. Is there a ready module for my billing panel?
Writing and maintaining your own integration is the biggest hidden cost. Check that the gateway has a module for the exact panel you run, and that it is maintained.
SnapEX Pay: free modules for WHMCS (8.x and 9.x), BILLmanager (6, any edition), FOSSBilling (0.8+) and Paymenter (v1.x). Anything else connects through the REST API.
2. How does a paid invoice get marked paid, and what if a webhook is lost?
A gateway that relies on a single webhook will sooner or later leave a paid invoice unpaid, and your support team will hear about it first. Ask how the module confirms payments and whether webhooks are signed.
SnapEX Pay: webhooks are signed with HMAC-SHA256 and the module re-reads the invoice from the API before crediting anything. In WHMCS and BILLmanager a payment is confirmed three independent ways: the webhook, the client returning from the payment page and a periodic check. A payment is never added twice.
3. What happens when a client sends less than the invoice?
Exchanges often deduct their withdrawal fee from the amount, so short payments are normal. Ask whether short payments are marked paid automatically (they should not be) and how the client can top up.
SnapEX Pay: an underpaid invoice waits for the rest on the same address; for USDT the top-up window is 72 hours. If the rest never arrives, the received part is credited to your balance and the invoice ends as partially paid. The modules never apply a short payment blindly: you review it and apply it by hand. More: The customer sent less than the invoice.
4. What does it cost, and who pays the fee?
Compare the fee per payment, monthly and setup fees, and whether you can pass the fee to the client.
SnapEX Pay: 1% per payment, no setup fee and no monthly fee. Per invoice you choose whether the fees come out of what you receive or are added on top for the client. More: Who pays the fees on a crypto invoice.
5. What do I get paid in, and how do I withdraw?
Volatile coins on your balance are a risk most hosting companies do not want. Ask what your balance is held in and how withdrawals work.
SnapEX Pay: clients pay in USDT or other coins, and everything lands in your merchant balance in USDT. You withdraw from the merchant cabinet; the network fee applies.
6. Which coins can my clients pay with?
SnapEX Pay: USDT on TRON (TRC20), Ethereum (ERC20) and BNB Smart Chain (BEP20), plus 50+ other coins such as BTC, ETH, LTC, SOL, XMR, TON and DOGE, converted to USDT automatically.
7. Can I test the whole flow without real money?
You want to see an invoice go from unpaid to paid in your own billing before a real client does.
SnapEX Pay: every module has a test mode. Test invoices confirm by themselves and never touch your balance; in WHMCS only logged-in admins see the button while it is on. More: How to test crypto payments without real money.
8. Does it work if my billing is not in USD?
SnapEX Pay: invoices are in USD. In WHMCS set Convert To For Processing to USD and invoices are still recorded in the client's currency; BILLmanager converts the amount at its own exchange rates; FOSSBilling and Paymenter take a fixed rate (FOSSBilling can also use its own currency rates).
